According the minutes / records of the college the library was established in 1911 with below 500 books. A librarian with a salary of Rs.10/- per month was appointed initially. When the government took over the college management, the number of books was 2500 and 282 palm leaf manuscripts. All the department library collections were amalgamated into the Central Library as per G.O.(MS)No.169/94/H.Edn. dated 22.11.1994. Now the College Library has 52649 books including rare and out of print books, 1982 bound volumes of journals, 18 maps, 211 video cassettes and 282 palm leaf manuscripts.

Book Bank:

There is no separate book bank collection in the Library since 1996. But books are issued to students for their examination requirement well in advance during February every year. Moreover the regular issue period is 28 days and maximum number of books are being issued to students on all working days.

Library Advisory Committee:

The Library Advisory Committee coordinates all works of the Library, The Principal as Chairman, Librarian as Secretary, five teachers and one student representative as members. In addition to Library Advisory Committee a committee of students representatives from all class is formed to interact on all matters related to students.

Automation:

The library has not so far being computerized its activities.The library has been provided with a computer , scanner ,CD writer,Server and SOUL Software.  Project for library automation using SOUL software is on progress. 

Reprographic and Audiovisual facilities:

Library has audio video and reprographic facilities. Photocopy is being done not only of library materials but also of student’s own records, notes, etc. at subsidized rate. Photocopying of all office papers, and question papers for terminal examination are taken free of cost. Sufficient funds are generated for the maintenance of photocopier from itself. The Asianet Satellite Communication Ltd., Pattambi has provided a cable connection, free of charge, which is to be used from next year onwards.


Library Building:

The first stage of the proposed library building has been completed with the assistance from the MPLAD scheme of Sri.S.Ajayakumar, Hon’able M.P. of Ottappalam and it was occupied fromed from 12th July 2003.  30000 books are being accommodated here.Construction of the second stage namely the reading room has been started with the Assist-ance from MPLAD Scheme of Sri Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, M.P.of Rajya Sabha. Steps are being taken to construct the Third face including reprographic room, computer room, special collection room, etc.
National Book Week:

Every year the National Book Week is celebrated by organizing book exhibition, essay competition and quiz programme to inculcate reading habit of the students. An orientation class to all freshers is compulsory for obtaining membership. Book exhibition is usually organized on all important celebration of the college. Exhibitions are occasionally arranged in neighbouring schools also.


Extention Activities:


Year of Book was celebrated from July 2001 to July 2002. Three days books exhibition and one-day seminar on “Research Methodology” were organized in 23rd January 2002 Inter school quiz competition was held on 18th January 2002. One day “Research Methodology” seminar was conducted on 11th July 2002. Kerala Sahitya Academy, Trichur arranged an exhibition cum sales on 17th November 2001. An exhibition of old newspaper’s reports about the college, important events in and around Pattambi was arranged during March 2002 along with the mobile book exhibition of National Book Trust, New Delhi.Training programmes to school teachers were conducted in collaboration with DIET, Palakkad.  The thrust areas were book classification and cataloging.
