Part A
The plan of action chalked
out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the
outcome achieved by the end of the year.
Meeting of the IQAC held on

to implement the following program in the college.

Out come achieved
1. Campus Beautification:-
Nature
club of the
college, with
Sri. M.P. Ravindrakumar, Dept.
of Botany as co-ordinator has taken
up the campus beautification program. The college NSS, CSS and NCC units have rendered
active participation in the program.
2. Plan Fund allotted by the State Govt. and the grant provided by UGC under X plan have been utilized for the purchase
of books and equipments. UGC grant
provided for Botany (PG) Dept has been
completely utilized.
3. PWD has repaired the Roof of PG
Block with their own fund. The work is not complete.

still remains to be repaired. College Development Committee sanctioned
amount for the renovation of ORC
building, Language Lab and Computer
Lab. ceiling was repaired
and false ceiling was constructed wherever necessary.
Floor of ORC building, Computer lab and Language Lab were given tiles. PWD repaired and renovated the Auditorium.
still there is leakage from the roof
of the Auditorium causing insecurity to the walls.
Collapsible gates of the Main Block were replaced with assistance of CDC.
4. The construction work of Canteen
cum-Post Office building is progressing.
It is being constructed with UGC grant, MLA Fund and CDC fund.
The work is undertaken by the Nirmithi Kendra Palakkad.
5. Broad Brand connectivity was established
in the computer center. Internet club
has started functioning, with nominal user charge for the staff and students.
6. Second stage of Library building
is progressing, with fund received from the MPLAD scheme of Sri Thennala Balakrishna
Pillai, M.P. of Rajyasabha. The work
is undertaken by the Nirmithi Kendra, Palakkad.
7. PWD has prepared plan and estimate
for the science block. But the work
is yet to be started.
8. A new bore well was constructed
by the Gramma Panchayath. It was connected
with the existing compressor pump in the pump house, with the financial assistance
from the CDC. Still there is water
scarcity problem in the staff quarters.
9. Proposals have been sent for starting
new degree courses in Physics and Mathematics.
It was also proposed to bifurcate the Double Main courses in English and
History into two separate Degree courses.
But sanction was not provided by the Govt.
10. National Seminars:
1. The PG and Research Dept of Sanskrit
Conducted a two day National Seminar on “ The Relevance of Sanskrit in the Present
development of
India
” on 27th and
28th Feb
2007
with the Financial Assistance of UGC.
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. K.G. Paulose, Former Registrar, SSUS Kalady. Eminent Personalities and scholars such
as Macies Karasinksi of Sagiellonion University,
Poland
, Dr. Rati Saxena, Dr. P.V.Ramankutty (Retd. Principal, Govt.College, Elerithattu)
Dr. C.M.Neelakantan, H.O.D Vedic Studies, SSUS, Kalady etc. presented papers on
various subjects. The teachers of the
Dept and students participated and presented papers.
2. Dept of English conducted a two
day National Seminar on Cognitive Constructivist Perspective on English Language
Teaching in January 2007. It was inaugurated
by Smt. Anita Nair, renowned English Indian writer.
College Teachers and scholars attended various sessions.
The Program was sponsored by the Govt of Kerala.
11.Multimedia
Center
a) The
Multimedia
Center
is an independent platform that strives to enhance the academic ambiance of the
college by evolving a technologically defined learning environments through the
effective integration of existing information resources and openings.
In addition, the center proposes to develop a range of full-service technology
design and consulting solutions for faculty research and instructional use. Another key area is the production of
multimedia educational tools and facilitation of creative works.
Multimedia Center
coordinates/mages as may as
ten activities organizations. The first one is the computer
center. Managed by the PTA, the center
conducts a 45 hours long basic computer course for all first year degree students. To meet the expenses, a nominal amount
is collected from each student at the time of admission to UG program. Office automation,
basics in accounting and programming, D.T.P. DBMS and statistical analysis are offered
as optional topics. Second is the internet
club. It provides high speed internet
access to students and teachers at Rs. 5/- and 10/hr. respectively from the computer
center. Also available are copying
and printing facilities at subsidized rates.
What comes next is the film club named Frames.
The main objective of the film club is to enrich and refine the sensibility
of students in visual media. It screens
classic movies and documentaries, conduct film-based programs and helps students
come up with original feature and non-feature movies.
So far the club has screened the Hollywood classic the Iranian classic Children
of Heaven, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer and Marooned in
Iraq
in addition to some episodes of the British tele series Mind Your language. The
fourth venture is a Multimedia Certificate Course through which students can acquire
basic knowledge, skills and techniques in multimedia.
50 students have been admitted in the 100 hour ling course in two sessions
a day. Services of paid resource persons
are utilized. Course Syllabus includes
fundamentals of journalism, reporting editing and lay, D.T.P, still Photography,
videography, photo and video editing, web designing and animation.
It is multimedia Center that designs and develops the website
of the college. www. sngscollege. info
provides updated administrative and academic information on the college like rank
list and houses the e-journal entitled Vinjnanachhintamany.
The Language Lab offers a variety of modules for language acquisition in
English, Sanskrit and Hindi. A documentation
wing is functioning under
Multimedia Center
with 30 students from different classes as members.
All the activities of the college are promptly recorded and carefully documented
in digital form. Comprehensively documented
activities will stand in good stead in good stead for the college as far as evaluation
agencies like the NAAC are concerned.
The multimedia center is doing the spadework for the production
of interactive CDs. Educational software
for language and virtual laboratory,
documentaries, etc. The center is currently
carrying out the mammoth project of converting the visual and auditory records of
precious art performances owned by

into digital format. Documentation
and research associated with the UGC project -Legacy of Nila- in association with
a television channel and centers of learning from a potential project.
Multimedia center can also prepare slide shows, presentations and other educational
aids for departments on demand. Similarly
the Center has devised a software by which the whole
admission process can be centralized and computerized by developing
a comprehensive.
A key element of
the Center in the Inter-disciplinary Forum. This body is meant to bring together
teachers, students, researchers and writers of as many subjects as possible in such
a way that the college gets a chance to offer meaningful insights into the dynamics
of current learning. The first program
of the academic year 2006-07 was a talk by Sri M.P.Vasudevan on Indian Philosophy. Next was on biotechnology by Dr. P.Rajeev.
The third was entitled ‘The Philosophy of Ayurveda’ by Dr. Kirathamoorthy.
The center proposes to offer coaching for competitive examinations,
medical transcription, reasoning and numerical ability and SPSS in near following
year.
b) Department of Sanskrit decided to
organize communicative Sanskrit classes.

Part B
1. Activities reflecting the goals and Objectives of the College
The College has initiated several community oriented program. The College was established by its founder
Renowned Sanskrit Scholar and social Reformer, Punnasseri Nambi Neelakanta
Sarma to propagate Sanskrit education among masses,
carving the barriers of cast and creed and religion. During the Reporting
year a mass awareness program was organized by the Information Department, Govt.
of India, in collaboration with our College and Pattambi Grama Panchayath, by the
name “Bharat Nirman Program”. It was
conducted during November 2006. This
program was one among the three district level programs organized in Kerala. Hundreds of people and
school students
visited various stalls instituted by different Govt agencies and attended various
seminars and orientation programs.
A career guidance cell functions in the college which facilitates qualified
candidates to get proper placement in Jobs.
